Metairie, La (WVUE) – With growing concerns that federal funding for the SNAP food assistance program would expire on Nov. 1, Louisiana Gov. Jeff Landry said Wednesday the state would soon announce ways it could help local food banks with their mission.
The governor’s conference took place on the same day hundreds of cars lined up near LaSalle Park in Metairie to get free food and supplies from the nonprofit Feed the Children.
