Teen Girl Missing for Days Found Alive in Box Several States Away

A 13-year-old girl who was recently reported missing in Louisiana was found alive in Pittsburgh on Thursday in a basement concealed in a sheet-covered box, local news station WTAE reported.

Ki-Shawn Crumity, 26, is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident, including trafficking in individuals, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual assault and corruption of minors.

Ronald Smith, a 62-year-old New Orleans resident, was also arrested on October 27 in Georgia for simple kidnapping and contributing to the delinquency of a juvenile, Louisiana First News reported. While being questioned by investigators, they learned the girl was with Smith at a Greyhound bus station in Baton Rouge earlier that week, according to the outlet.

The teenage girl’s safe recovery comes after collaborative efforts from multiple agencies, including the U.S. Marshals, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Pittsburgh Bureau of Police’s Special Victims Unit.
