NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Rock of Ages Baptist Church and community partners are providing 70,000 pounds of food and $40,000 in free gas for families impacted by the federal shutdown and SNAP benefit freeze.
The gas giveaways will be held Friday, Nov. 7 at 10:00 a.m. at two local Shell Stations on 2035 Gentilly Blvd. and 1667 Tchoupitoulas St. Food will be given away at the Rock of Ages Baptist Church at 2515 Franklin Ave.

This is what ministry looks like,” said Pastor Jonathan Everett. “Federal workers are going without pay. Families are being told benefits are on hold. We refuse to let our community go without food, gas, or dignity. New Orleans is resilient. We’re not waiting for Washington; we’re showing up for each other.”
