Preliminary work begins on endangered New Orleans jazz landmark

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Eagle Saloon was recently listed as one of the city’s most endangered historic sites, but now there’s progress in the effort to save the vital jazz landmark.

In the heart of the Central Business District, just one block from City Hall, sits the saloon — a three-story building considered one of the most significant structures in the development of jazz.

“It’s been on our radar for years, originally as part of a grouping of buildings in the 400 block of South Rampart Street,” said Michael Duplantier with the Louisiana Landmarks Society…
