Firefighters raced to the shuttered Navy facility in the Bywater overnight after calls of flames shooting out of the abandoned site.
NOFD Captain Edwin Holmes says they showed up to find a fire and people fleeing.
“Several vagrants were seen leaving the abandoned facility,” he noted in a news release.
