Major fire destroys multiple apartments in New Orleans East

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A major fire destroyed multiple apartments at the Laguna Reserve Apartments on Friday afternoon (Nov. 21), forcing residents to evacuate as flames spread quickly through the building.

The fire started around 12:45 p.m., and the New Orleans Fire Department worked nearly two-and-a-half hours to get the blaze under control. Half of the building’s roof collapsed under the intense heat as siding melted away.

The majority of people who live in the building were not home when the fire started. Those who were home said the flames spread quickly…
