State police to assist ICE and Border Patrol; NOPD, local officials left in the dark

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans police and several elected officials say they have received no details about upcoming federal immigration enforcement efforts, even as the head of Louisiana State Police confirmed his agency will assist Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Border Patrol.

The West Bank drew widespread attention online over the weekend after reports of federal agents spotted in Algiers. ICE confirmed to WWL Louisiana that in Algiers, officers “targeted and arrested a criminal illegal alien who is a convicted sex offender. The individual remains in ICE custody.”
