NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — The Bayou Classic events have already started, and the National Medical Association is the primary health partner for all of the festivities.
Dr. Takeisha Davis, CEO of New Orleans East Hospital, stopped by the WGNO studios to explain how the game and surrounding events are also an opportunity to discuss community health.
According to Davis, “Bayou Classic is more than a football game, right? It’s bringing our culture and community together to celebrate us in the excellence of HBCU’s. But it’s important for us to focus on health because if we’re not healthy, we can’t be there. So, the National Medical Association, Region Five is the primary health sponsor for Bayou Classic to make sure that we are continuing to focus on preventable health disorders that can help to decrease our health disparities that we face in our communities.”
