A Louisiana man has been charged for allegedly calling in a bomb threat after he couldn’t pay to get out of the airport parking lot.

On Nov. 20, Corey Johnson, a 35-year-old man from Alexandria, La., was indicted for willfully conveying a bomb threat, according to a Tuesday press release from the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana. The charges follow an alleged incident that occurred on Nov. 7 at the Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport.

According to an FBI affidavit, Johnson attempted to exit the short-term parking lot in his Jeep, but was “unable to render payment.” He reportedly refused multiple requests from parking staff and airport police to move his vehicle from the exit lane. Once Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies were called in, Johnson agreed to move his vehicle until he could “obtain the necessary funds to exit.”

The suit claims that later that evening, around 9:50 p.m., while Johnson’s vehicle was still trapped in the parking lot, deputies were alerted to a “threatening phone call” to the Aviation Communications (AVCOM) center demanding that the operator “page Hassan.”…
