Once a white-stucco structure with green tile, the home of Smith Wendell “S.W.” Green outlived a Ku Klux Klan arson attack in 1928. But in recent years, fire returned, and this time the blaze took down the old house — “a heartbreaking blow to this architectural treasure,” the Preservation Resource Center of New Orleans states.
So who was S.W. Green?
