St. Tammany deputies looking for ‘Underwear Bandit’

COVINGTON, La. (WGNO) — St. Tammany Parish deputies are looking for a business burglary suspect who they say was wearing underwear on his head to help disguise his identity. The case is the latest one to roll on the Wheel of Justice.

Deputies did not say when the crime happened or the exact location, but they did say the business that was targeted is located in the area of I-12 and Highway 190. They also released security camera footage that shows some of what happened.

In the video, the suspect is seen in what appears to be the kitchen area of a restaurant. He was wearing a blue jacket, backpack, tennis shoes and a cap. But deputies also say he was wearing a pair of underwear over his head to help conceal his identity.

In one portion of the video, the suspect is seen carrying the business’ cash drawer, according to deputies. But they also say it was empty and was later found dumped at a nearby shopping center.
