Derrick Groves sentenced in 2018 Mardi Gras homicide

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — After nearly a decade, Derrick Groves was sentenced to two life sentences and two 50-year sentences in connection of the 2018 Mardi Gras day shooting that left two men dead.

“Derek Groves is no more. His story is dead,” said Homicide Unit Assistant District Attorney Forrest Ladd.

Ladd says even with eyewitness testimony, cell phone analysis, and Groves admitting to his crimes online, it was not enough for him to show remorse for the family in court…
