NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A man is in custody in connection with a “terrorizing incident” that occurred on the University of New Orleans campus on Dec. 12.
According to the New Orleans Police Department, the suspect, 41-year-old Joseph Russo, allegedly called the university around 10:45 a.m. and “threatened to burn down buildings on campus.” The administration contacted UNO Police following this incident.
UNO’s campus was evacuated out of caution and two nearby schools, Hynes UNO Charter and Ben Franklin High School, were placed on lockdown.
