Community groups gather goods for migrant families fearful of Operation Catahoula Crunch

METAIRIE (WVUE) – At Telemundo 42’s studio just off the I-10 Service Road, the TV personalities, radio hosts and other staffers responsible for creating New Orleans’ Latino-based news are now focused on serving their Spanish-speaking audience.

Since the start of Operation Catahoula Crunch, Border Patrol’s immigration crackdown in Louisiana, Telemundo 42 has been flooded with calls from viewers too concerned about immigration enforcement to venture outside their homes.

The community’s main concerns were about being racially profiled by immigration agents. But after a Department of Homeland Security source confirmed to FOX 8 that even immigrants with permits and ongoing immigration cases can be detained during the operation, even more fear has spread among the community…
