NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – With a frigid Arctic blast settling over the region Sunday (Dec. 14) into Monday, the City of New Orleans has activated its citywide freeze plan.
Temperatures are expected to fall into the low 30s early Monday, with wind chills making it feel like the 20s. While the National Weather Service says no watches or warnings are anticipated, it has issued a Cold Weather Advisory for the area from 9 p.m. Sunday through 9 a.m. Monday.
City officials said anyone in need of temporary shelter can find it free of charge at the following locations until full:
- Rosenwald Recreation Center, 1120 S Broad Ave., 8 p.m.-9 a.m.
- Ozanam Inn, 2239 Poydras St., 4:30 p.m.-9 a.m.
- New Orleans Mission, 1130 Oretha Castle Haley Blvd., 4 p.m.-9 a.m.
- The Salvation Army, 4526 S. Claiborne Ave., 4 p.m.-9 a.m.
- Low Barrier Shelter, 1530 Gravier St., 4:30 p.m.-9 a.m.
