NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The New Orleans film community is mourning the death of director-actor Rob Reiner, whose last released movie “Spinal Tap II: The End Continues” was filmed in the area.
The mockumentary sequel about a fictitious British rock band filmed its climactic final concert scenes at the University of New Orleans’ Lakefront Arena. Other scenes were shot in the French Quarter, Bywater and Chalmette.
Reiner and his wife Michele, who also worked in the entertainment industry, were fatally stabbed in their Brentwood (Calif.) home Sunday. Their son Nick Reiner has been accused of the stabbing deaths and is being held in Los Angeles on a $4 million bond as the only suspect in the murders.
