Family loses belongings in two-alarm fire in Carrollton area

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A two-alarm fire Monday (Dec. 15) in the Carrollton riverbend neighborhood has left a family without its belongings, including holiday gifts for three children.

The fire at a two-story house at 618 Fern Street broke out around 3:19 p.m. but was brought under control less than an hour later with only radiant heat damage to an adjacent house, the New Orleans Fire Department said.

The burning house sustained significant fire damage to two rooms of a second-floor apartment and the attic, and water damage to its ground floor unit…
