Orleans jail escapee assigned new lawyer amid fraud allegations against attorney

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The Orleans Public Defenders Office reassigned a high-profile case from attorney Tanzanika Ruffin, who faces allegations of defrauding a client’s family out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The office reassigned Lenton Vanburen’s case from Ruffin to Miles Swanson, a conflict panel attorney. The public defender’s office filed the notice Wednesday (Dec. 17) in Judge Robin Pittman’s courtroom in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court.
