Honduran National Sentenced in Orleans Parish for Illegal Reentry and Firearms Possession

A Honduran national, identified as 33-year-old Bryan Javier Perez-Espinoza, has been sentenced to a federal prison term for illegal reentry into the United States and firearms possession. In an announcement on December 3, Acting U.S. Attorney Michael M. Simpson disclosed that Perez-Espinoza will serve 21 months behind bars, according to the U.S. Attoeny’s Office.

After being previously removed back to Honduras on September 30, 2022, Perez-Espinoza was discovered in Orleans Parish on March 23, 2024. Following an indictment on May 22, 2025, he faced charges for reentry of a removed alien and illegal alien in possession of a weapon, as per the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The case falls under Operation Take Back America, a Department of Justice initiative focusing on halting illegal immigration, breaking up transnational criminal organizations, and ensuring community safety.
