After technical difficulties Wednesday night, Louisiana Public Broadcasting will re-air “Michalopoulos: the Art of Celebration” at 9 p.m. Friday and 5:30 p.m. Sunday on its statewide network.
The show premiered on Wednesday night, but PBS technical issues kept streaming service viewers from seeing it, according to LPB.
The documentary spotlights self-taught artist James Michalopoulos, described by LPB as “a visionary whose bold expressionistic work has come to embody the heartbeat and spirit of New Orleans.”
“The son of a Greek immigrant and a prominent architect, Michalopoulos arrived in New Orleans more than four decades ago, drawn by an unshakable sense of wanderlust,” a news release states. “Fascinated by the city’s striking contrast of beauty and decay, he began a lifelong love affair with New Orleans — a place that would become both his muse and the foundation of his artistic identity.”…
