$2.1M bond set for man accused of shooting deliveryman, killing motorist in Fairgrounds

A suspect accused of shooting a package deliveryman and then killing a motorist within hours in the Fairgrounds area was ordered held on a $2.1 million bond in Orleans Parish Criminal District Court on Friday.

Lance Daniel Dodd, 38, was booked into the Orleans Justice Center Tuesday evening on second-degree murder, aggravated battery by shooting and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, just hours after the shootings. He was held without bond until a dangerousness hearing scheduled for Friday.

On Friday afternoon in magistrate court, however, assistant district attorney Forest Ladd withdrew his motion for the hearing, asking instead for a $3.1 million bond for Dodd, who was on parole until 2027 for a 2022 conviction of possession of a firearm by a felon…
