Archbishop Aymond urges prayer, lifts Mass obligation amid fear in immigrant community

NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans Archbishop Gregory Aymond says fear in the immigrant community has kept some families from leaving their homes, prompting him to urge prayer and lift the obligation to attend Mass.

In a letter to parishioners posted in the St. Dominic Parish bulletin, Archbishop Aymond said “our immigrant sisters and brothers are facing real fear and anxiety in the wake of an increase in immigration enforcement actions.”
