Louisiana Guard deploying to NOLA through Mardi Gras

The Louisiana National Guard will deploy around 350 soldiers to New Orleans for New Year’s Eve, the Sugar Bowl, and Mardi Gras.

“We’ve mobilized multiple times this year to support efforts in New Orleans and are ready to do so again for the next two months,” said Maj. Gen. Thomas Friloux. “We will focus on a uniformed presence to enhance the quality of life of our residents and visitors in partnership with Troop NOLA of the Louisiana State Police and the New Orleans Police Department.”

The guard’s deployment is under federal Title 32, which means the troops will report to Friloux and the Louisiana Governor’s Office, but will be paid for by the federal government…
