Grassroots volunteer group helps feed families during Operatation Catahoula Crunch

METAIRIE (WVUE) – As a federal immigration enforcement campaign continues across Louisiana, one grassroots volunteer group is working daily to support the immigrant families most affected.

The group, called Ángeles de NOLA — or Angels of NOLA in English — has been organizing and delivering groceries, toiletries and even toys to families who have been sheltering at home for nearly a month.

Operation Catahoula Crunch, launched earlier this month by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, targets immigrants with criminal records. DHS reports about 370 arrests statewide so far, but officials have named only 35 individuals — all either convicted criminals or those facing charges…
