NEW ORLEANS — New Orleans welcomed 2026 in familiar style, as a glowing fleur-de-lis descended over the French Quarter at midnight.

The glowing symbol slid down a 25-foot pole from the top of the Jax Brewery building as the crowd counted down to the New Year. Moments later, fireworks lit up the sky over the Mississippi River.
