Popular New Orleans sushi spot opening second restaurant in Metairie with a new concept

The owners of a popular New Orleans sushi restaurant plan to open a second location in Metairie with a different concept than the downtown spot.

Kenji Omakase at 217 Camp St. is known for its dry-aged sushi, part of its omakase dining experience, in which the chef selects dishes for a delicious multi-course meal.

Kenji owner and chef Matt Nguyen explained in an Instagram video that Kenji means “second son,” which he is in his family.

The new location, Kenji Kazoku, adds “kazoku,” which means family, and Nguyen said he and his business partner, Malachi Dupre, are now “opening their arms” and extending the family by adding new partners, Logan and Paris Jean, for this new concept…
