Louisiana nonprofit benefit raises $50K to support early psychosis care
Early Psychosis Intervention Clinic New Orleans, or EPIC-NOLA, and its early detection campaign, Clear Answers to Louisiana’s Mental Health, both affiliated with the Tulane Department of Psychiatry, announced that the fourth annual In My Mind benefit and awareness event raised nearly $50,000.
The proceeds will support the clinic’s life-changing early psychosis intervention services and community education across Louisiana.
New Orleans children’s hospital announces new CMO
Manning Family Children’s Hospital appointed Dr. David Yu as senior vice president and chief medical officer. Yu has served on the medical staff at the hospital for 25 years in many roles. He is replacing Dr. Mark Kline, who is retiring after four and a half years as chief medical officer. Yu will begin his new role on Feb. 1.
Baton Rouge General breaks ground on Livingston Parish hospital
Baton Rouge General begins construction on a new hospital and emergency room, located on Juban Road and Powell Lane off of Interstate 12 in Denham Springs. The 40,000-square-foot, $50 million facility will include:
- a 14-bed emergency room,
- a 13-bed inpatient hospital,
- outpatient services like imaging and labs,
- physician practices,
- and physical therapy.
The hospital opening is planned for fall 2027.
New Orleans support group helps navigate caregiving, provide community
Touro Infirmary LCMC Health hosts a neuro rehab caregiver support group in New Orleans every third Wednesday of each month.
