NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – Julio Machado, chef and owner of Origen Bistro in the Bywater neighborhood, said he received an alarming phone call from his mother in Venezuela at 2 a.m. Saturday.
“I received this phone call from my mother last night, 2 in the morning. She was like really, really concerned about, you know, bombs and exploding right in front of her house,” Machado said. “So, for four or five hours, we lose, you know, connection. And that was really, really bad for me.”
