The Historic New Orleans Collection’s flagship location on Royal Street was shuttered after being struck by a hit-and-run driver early Saturday morning.
Surveillance video shows a driver speeding in reverse down Royal Street before apparently losing control and slamming into the circa-1793 Spanish colonial structure. A source familiar with the investigation said the driver had turned the wrong way onto the one-way street before reversing into the building and fleeing the scene shortly after 5 a.m.
