Ribbon-cutting held for New Orleans Municipal Yacht Harbor Fishing Pier

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — New Orleans city officials held a ribbon-cutting for the new Municipal Yacht Harbor Fishing Pier on Tuesday, Jan. 6.

According to city officials, the original fishing pier was destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The new pier is at the north end of West End Breakwater Park.

The completed replacement pier spans around 3,500 square feet and was constructed with timber pile supports, treated timber decking and rails, a steel access bridge with steel piles and concrete pilecaps, as well as lighting, water access and new concrete sidewalks…
