Louisiana man accused of embezzling over $500K from employer arrested, sheriff says

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A Folsom-area man has been arrested after a St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office investigation found he embezzled more than $500,000 from his employer.

In August 2025, the owner of a local logistics business contacted the Sheriff’s Office after discovering what he believed to be an internal embezzlement totaling about $300,000.

Following a five-month investigation, detectives with the agency’s Financial Crimes and Major Crimes Units determined that an employee, 42-year-old Christopher Miguel Orlando, had carried out multiple fraudulent schemes to steal money from the company. Investigators ultimately concluded that Orlando had fraudulently obtained $539,202.35.

A warrant was issued for Orlando’s arrest on multiple felony charges. He surrendered Tuesday, Jan. 6, at the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center, where he was booked…
