The United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana charged a Mexican national, Jose Cabrera-Molina, aged 33, with illegal reentry after deportation. As reported on Wednesday by the U.S. Attorney’s Office, Cabrera-Molina was prosecuted via bill of information for a violation which, upon conviction, could result in up to two years of imprisonment and a fine of up to $250,000.
According to court documents, Cabrera-Molina was discovered in Orleans Parish on December 12, 2025. His previous removal from the United States dates back to December 16, 2013, and immigration records indicate a lack of any legal basis for his presence in the country since that time. Additionally, he allegedly reentered the U.S. without procuring the necessary authorization from U.S. authorities. U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle stressed that “a bill of information is merely a charge and that the guilt of the defendant must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.”
The case against Cabrera-Molina is part of a larger federal initiative, Operation Take Back America. This program aims to combat illegal immigration and dismantle cartels and transnational criminal organizations.
