Two Arrested for Smuggling Meth, Ecstasy Into Louisiana Prison

GRANT PARISH, La. (KMDL-FM) – Two women have been arrested and charged with multiple counts of possession with intent to distribute several different drugs including meth, ecstasy, Oxycodone, and more after they were caught allegedly attempting to smuggle contraband into the Federal Prison in Grant Parish.

Women Arrested Smuggling Drugs Into Louisiana Prison

According to KALB.com, Chandele Newman, 36, of New Orleans has been arrested and faces charges of possession of meth amphetamine, morphine, ecstasy, marijuana, synthetic marijuana, and taking contraband into a penal institution. Each charge also carries an additional Intent to Distribute charge.

Esther Icaza, 38, of Westwego, Louisiana was also arrested on similar charges including “Distribution of Oxycodone, Possession of Marijuana with the Intent to Distribute and Taking Contraband into a Penal Institution” as reported by KALB.com.

No information has been released yet as to how the two individuals were allegedly attempting to smuggle the drugs into the Grant Parish Federal prison…
