Slidell assistant principal killed in Treme shooting, school district says

NEW ORLEANS — St. Tammany Parish Schools confirmed that Alvin Garabold, an assistant principal at Salmen High School, ‘tragically’ died early Tuesday morning.

School officials notified staff Wednesday morning and sent a robocall to parents. Mental health counselors are on campus to support students and staff, a spokesperson for St. Tammany Schools said.

Alvin Garabold was named assistant principal at Salmen High School in August 2023 after serving as dean of students at Bonnabel High School in Jefferson Parish, according to NOLA.com.
