Former Louisiana prosecutor arrested on drug trafficking allegations across multiple parishes

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – A former Orleans Parish and St. John the Baptist Parish assistant district attorney has been arrested on allegations he ran a drug trafficking operation across parish lines.

Tony Vu Tran, who previously prosecuted cases in Orleans Parish and who worked for the St. John the Baptist Parish District Attorney’s Office for the past two months, was booked into the Orleans Justice Center on counts of possession with intent to distribute marijuana and ecstasy.

Tran is also accused of carrying weapons while in possession of the drugs and of having drug paraphernalia. In total, court records allege authorities confiscated 202 pounds of marijuana, about $35,000 in cash, suspected powdered and pill-form ecstasy, as well as alleged drug paraphernalia, from Tran’s possession…
