Popular Mexican restaurant Vals was closed for lunch Wednesday after an early morning fire ignited in a storage unit and damaged a portion of the Freret Street building.
The restaurant, a popular spot for casual tacos, margaritas and outdoor dining, announced the closure on social media just after 10 a.m. Wednesday.
