A New Orleans Police Department recruit was taken into custody on Wednesday morning by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, NOPD Superintendent Anne Kirkpatrick said.
The officer, who Kirkpatrick did not identify, had lived in the U.S. for 10 years and had no criminal background. Kirkpatrick pointed reporters to ICE for comment.
