Jefferson Parish deputy dies following traffic crash

RIVER RIDGE, Louisiana — Deputy Christopher Paul Ohlmeyer, a 41-year-old resident of River Ridge, has died from injuries sustained in a traffic accident just before noon on January 30, 2026. He is survived by his wife, Desiree, and their children, Gavin and Olivia.

Deputy Ohlmeyer dedicated nearly 15 years to the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, serving in various capacities. He began his career in Corrections and graduated from the Training Academy in August 2014. Following his graduation, he was assigned to the Fourth District, where he served the Eastbank community for 11 years. Last year, he transferred to the Traffic Division and recently qualified as a motorman.
