A Jefferson Parish man has been charged with federal mail theft, according to an announcement from U.S. Attorney David I. Courcelle. Devin Hutton of Kenner, Louisiana, was indicted on Thursday last week, for allegedly stealing mail from mailboxes at an apartment complex in Metairie, as per the U.S. Attorney’s Office release
If convicted, Hutton faces a maximum sentence of up to five years in prison, followed by as many as three years of supervised release. He could also be fined up to $250,000 and required to pay a mandatory $100 special assessment. Federal prosecutors emphasized that the indictment is an allegation, and Hutton is presumed innocent unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt…
