Boy wounded in Algiers shooting in stable condition, New Orleans police say

A boy who was wounded in an Algiers shooting Monday afternoon is stable after being taken to a hospital, New Orleans police said Tuesday.

Officers with the New Orleans Police Department were called at around 3:20 p.m. to the 3400 block of Behrman Highway. Police later said the shooting occurred in the 3700 block of Garden Oaks Drive, where they said the boy and a man were in a parking lot when a gunman opened fire.

The boy suffered at least one gunshot wound and was transported to a hospital by paramedics. Police did not release his age, but NOPD spokesperson Sgt. Barry Fletcher said Monday that investigators believe the child is between 5 to 7 years old…
