Mourners remember Jefferson Parish motorcycle deputy killed in line of duty: ‘Smiling every day’

Law enforcement officers from the New Orleans area and beyond joined relatives and friends Thursday to pay their respects to Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy Christopher Ohlmeyer, who was killed last week while on a motorcycle escorting a funeral procession in New Orleans.

Hundreds of mourners filled the Jefferson Parish Performing Arts Center in Metairie, filing in past Ohlmeyer’s patrol SUV, his personal orange Harley Davidson and a massive American flag hanging high from the extended ladder of a fire truck.

“We’re here to celebrate the good life of Chrisotpher Ohlmeyer,” Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto said outside the center. “As we told his family this morning, we’re going to make sure the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’ s Office does it right.”…
