The 1999 Mother’s Day bus crash remains one of the deadliest vehicular accidents in Louisiana history.
The crash occurred on Interstate 610 near the Wisner Boulevard overpass when a charter bus carrying senior citizens from Laplace to a casino for a Mother’s Day gambling trip in New Orleans veered off the roadway and plunged into New Orleans City Park. Twenty-two people were killed.
