Federal agencies launch Operation NOLA Safe in New Orleans

Federal officials on Tuesday announced the results of a major crime‑reduction effort ahead of Mardi Gras. The operation, called Operation NOLA Safe, involved the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana, the FBI New Orleans Field Office and Homeland Security Investigations New Orleans.

Officials said the operation has led to 175 arrests so far. Officers also seized 114 guns, more than 20 kilograms of cocaine, about 1 kilogram of fentanyl and more than 102 kilograms of marijuana. They recovered 41,909 tapentadol pills and other illegal drugs and prescription medications…
