4-year-old child hospitalized after being struck in head by bottle reportedly thrown from float during Zulu parade

NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) — A 4-year-old child is still recovering after reportedly being struck in the head with a glass bottle thrown from a float during the Krewe of Zulu parade on Mardi Gras Day.

According to Zulu officials, the bottle was allegedly thrown by a rider on Float 26. Following this incident, the child was hospitalized, needing staples to close the wound.

The child’s mother is currently demanding that the rider who threw the bottle to be held accountable for their actions.

“If you had to empty a coconut to throw it, then of course you know are not supposed to throw a full bottle of alcohol off of the float,” Taranika McBride said. “It’s just that I want that person to be held accountable, not the entire Zulu association.”…
