RED FLAG WARNING ISSUED FOR WASHINGTON PARISH — OFFICIALS URGE RESIDENTS TO READ, SHARE, AND TAKE IMMEDIATE PRECAUTIONS

The Washington Parish Office of Homeland Security and Emergency Preparedness is urging all residents to pay close attention and immediately share an urgent fire weather warning issued by the National Weather Service in New Orleans. A Red Flag Warning for Dangerous Fire Conditions is in effect Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. CST, and officials stress that conditions will be extremely hazardous for wildfires and grass fires across the parish.

This warning signals critical fire weather conditions, meaning any fire that starts could spread rapidly and uncontrollably. With strong north winds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 35 mph, combined with very low humidity levels as low as 20–25 percent, even a small spark could quickly become a major emergency.
