Director Morgan Neville got married in New Orleans 22 years ago. Not because he had any familial ties to the city, but as he said, “just because he loves it here.” It seems the city loves him right back.
So much so that the New Orleans Film Society elongated its originally planned film festival by a day this past October, just to screen Neville’s latest documentary, “Man on the Run” about musical icon Paul McCartney. In less than a week, that film will be available to the public.
Neville is no stranger to documentaries, and in fact won the Oscar in 2014 for Best Documentary Feature with “Twenty Feet from Stardom,” detailing the lives of back-up singers. And, he’s done celebrated docs about everyone from Bill Gates and Bono to Mister Rogers. So, when McCartney’s manager approached him about directing a documentary about Paul McCartney, according to Neville, there was no hesitation…
