New Orleans begins selling off city-owned cars amid grapple with financial crisis

The City of New Orleans is selling city-owned cars in an effort to reduce spending amid its ongoing budget deficit.

According to New Orleans Chief Administrative Officer Joe Giarrusso, the selling of the vehicles was part of a campaign promise from Mayor Helena Moreno.

While identifying ways to reduce spending prior to taking office, Moreno’s administration identified dozens of vehicles that were used as take-home cars for some city workers…
