John Fuller, a veteran criminal defense attorney in New Orleans, was disqualified Wednesday from the race for a vacant seat on the Orleans Parish Criminal District Court bench.
A fill-in judge in Civil District Court, Yolanda Grinstead, issued her ruling after a hearing over an allegation that Fuller did not file a state tax return for the year 2020 as he’d claimed in his qualifying papers.
The qualifying form asks candidates to certify that they filed state and federal income tax returns for the past five years or filed for extensions. The provision has tripped up several political hopefuls in past years…
