Pharmacist: Drugs in driver’s system after deputy’s death were psychoactive, could cause impairment

NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) – The drugs allegedly found in a driver’s system following a crash that killed a deputy were psychoactive and could cause significant impairment, according to a local pharmacist.

Court records indicate Erica Smith-Katsanis had 11 drugs in her system at the time of the crash that killed Deputy Christopher Ohlmeyer, including benzodiazepines, amphetamines, and selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

The results from the Louisiana State Police Crime Laboratory showed she tested negative for alcohol but positive for a combination of 11 different drugs, including:

  1. Amphetamine (34 ng/mL)
  2. 7-Aminoclonazepam
  3. Clonazepam (Klonopin)
  4. Dextromethorphan / Levomethorphan
  5. Aripiprazole
  6. Bupropion
  7. Diphenhydramine
  8. Fluoxetine
  9. Methylphenidate
  10. Paroxetine
  11. Quetiapine
