National Guard will stay in New Orleans through August, Landry says

NEW ORLEANS — The Louisiana National Guard isn’t leaving New Orleans just yet.

About 120 Guard members will stay on duty in the city for another six months after the U.S. Department of War approved an extension of their mission, which had been set to end in late February, Gov. Jeff Landry announced Monday.
